Since its inception in 1999, the ‘Oscars of the energy world’ – The Global Energy Awards – has had Eclipse at the helm of its show-stopping production.

Created by the Financial Times before being taken over by S&P Global Platts, for the past two decades Eclipse has produced an event attracting the highest calibre of guests, including leaders and innovators from across the global energy industry.

It’s testament to Eclipse’s continuity, good relations and ingenuity that S&P Global Platts once again called upon the company’s services to help celebrate its landmark 20th year and impress the energy industry’s global elite.

Held at New York’s Cipriani Wall Street, the event needed that extra ‘wow factor’ to reflect the milestone occasion. Onto a 24ft wide and 56ft deep stage, the Eclipse team installed two raised curved staircases while low-level walk-ons were installed to create dramatic walk-on for the presenters and sponsors though a holographic projection system.

The stage was given further flourish with the installation of a 40ft wide projection screen and a 3D holographic fog screen within its backdrop to allow sponsor and winner announcements to be eloquently projected. The technology enabled S&P Global Platts president Martin Fraenkel to deliver his opening address in an awe-inspiring holographic state.

Elsewhere, a tasteful rose-covered screen provided a sophisticated backdrop for interviews and photos at the pre-dinner reception, while four confetti cannons positioned 45ft high were in place to help deliver a dramatic finale to the awards ceremony.

Special attention was also paid to sound and lighting to create a dramatic atmosphere, with LED uplighters highlighting podiums and the centre stage to add to the awards tension.

S&P Global Platts’ event organiser, Murray Fisher, believes Eclipse’s full understanding of the requirements of an event of this distinction and its commitment to delivering on time and on budget are the reasons the company excelled at the 20th Global Energy Awards. It’s why Eclipse has been booked for the 21st Global Energy Awards and will continue working with S&P Global Platts in the future.

What they say

Eclipse appreciate the calibre and class to which our awards aspire alongside limitations of budget as a key parameter. Their commitment to doing whatever it takes, strong negotiation with suppliers, availability and ultimately, delivery of first-class awards is what has kept the partnership strong over the decades.
