Everything is Recorded is the brainchild of XL Records boss Richard Russell. The launch of the debut album took place at the abandoned savoy cinema in Dalston, featuring vocal contributions from Sampha, Giggs, Ibeyi, Obongjayar, Infinite, Wiki & Syd, and instrumental contributions from Kamasi Washington, Damon Albarn, Rachel Zeffira, Peter Gabriel, Owen Pallett amongst others.

The Dalston venue which has stood empty for 25+ years has been acquired by Village Underground and is set to be renovated and transformed into the Hackney Arts Centre.

The event combined music and art with installations and decor by artist Toby Ziegler including new video works made in collaboration with Everything is Recorded.

Realizing Toby Ziegler’s upstairs installation design required creative thinking and expert knowledge, a challenge that Eclipse faced head on. The design consisted of three huge screens with high powered projection; the side screens showing two hot-head camera relays of the performances in the downstairs, graded to look like CCTV footage, and the main centre screen showing music videos from the artist with the audio fed to the audience with ‘silent disco’ style wireless headphones.

The design and build of huge 9mx5m central screen needed a lot of thought as the space was difficult to work in, being dilapidated and un-evenly surfaced with weight restrictions in places. The access was also quite challenging to bring in set panels, and we also had to work within a budget. Eclipse proved that anything is possible came up with a solution: A canvas covered truss structure that could be safely winched to height from levelled ground supports with calculated decking. Once the pigeons had deserted us, this worked perfectly!
